India also known as Bharat, Hindustan has achieved its Independence from British Empire on 15th August 1947. It was not an easy win of Freedom, nor was it an effort of a day or week. It was a struggle of 200 years of Colonial rule by the Indian Freedom Fighters. Indian Freedom Fighters shed their blood to get the freedom which we are enjoying today. Violence and Non-Violence were key weapons, Indians used to get this freedom from the mighty british empire.

FIRST WAR OF INDEPENDENCE

It all started in the year 1857 when the first war for Independent India was fought. It began as a mutiny of sepoys in the town of Meerut. This first war of Independence was also called as sepoys mutiny, first war of independence, great rebellion,  revolt of 1857 etc.

In the years to come , lot of freedom struggles happened.

In 1900s, National Movement Started by Indian National Congress and All India Muslim League under the guidance of the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi used the famous weapon called Non-Violence or Ahimsa to get the freedom. Lot of such non violent movements, like Quit India, Non-Cooperation Movements etc were held over the years across the country. There was a huge unrest among the british empire.

Before the Independence, India supported britishers in two world wars and then finally on the 15th August, 1947, India was granted Freedom from the british colonial rule. However, not before dividing India into two countries.
